Singer Nam Tae Hyun (30 years old) was fined for causing a drunk driving accident in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
According to legal circles on July 7th, Judge Ham Hyun Ji of the Seoul Central District Court fined Nam Tae Hyun 6 million won on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving) the previous day.
Nam Tae Hyun was accused of driving about 5-10 meters under the influence of alcohol near Gangnam-gu, Seoul at around 3:30 a.m. on March 8th.
In the process, Nam Tae Hyun also damaged the side mirror of a taxi he was passing by while opening the door of his parked car.
As a result of the police alcohol test, Nam Tae Hyun’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.114%, which exceeded the license cancellation limit of 0.08%.
Nam Tae Hyun’s side said, “While waiting for a proxy driver, he tried to move his car that was blocking the vehicles of acquaintances”, adding “He has no excuse for his rash judgment in the spur of the moment”.
In March, the police sent Nam Tae Hyun to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office on charges of drunk driving and the prosecution issued a summary indictment against him. A summary indictment is a procedure in which the prosecution requests a fine through written proceedings and other means without referring the suspect to a formal trial.
Meanwhile, Nam Tae Hyun is also under investigation by the prosecution for purchasing and administering methamphetamine together with broadcaster Seo Min Jae (30 years old).
