“My Demon” Disappearing Scene Resembles “Goblin”, K-netizens React

In the latest episode of “My Demon”, Gu Won (Song Kang) brought Do Hee back to life and then disappeared into thin air as they were separated in a tear-jerking scene. A Theqoo user pointed out that the scene is similar to the famous one from “Goblin” where Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) also disappears into the air in front of Ji Eun Tak (Kim Go Eun).

They also noted that Gu Won’s runway scene in the early episodes also brings to mind “Goblin.”

Under the post, netizens left comments:

“Even though disappearing like that is common, the visual effects, colors, and movement are so similar. Did the same team work on this?”

“Kim Go Eun’s acting was intense.”

“But this kind of thing is often seen in Western fantasy movies. However, Goblin was filmed much better, with good CG quality, and the lead actors’ acting is better.”

“The runway scene does remind me of Goblin overall, and the disappearance scene has a similar feeling. After looking it up, the cinematographer for both Goblin and My Demon is the same person, so that’s why the feeling is similar.”

“It’s such a common disappearing effect.”

“I heard that the cinematographer for My Demon is the same person who worked on Goblin, but they should have shot it differently.”

“It’s too identical… I’m surprised. It seems like they blatantly copied Goblin.”

“Whenever I watch My Demon, I’m reminded of Goblin a lot.”

“Wow, it’s too similar.”

“I like the fantasy genre, so I watch a lot of foreign films, and this kind of disappearing scene direction is common.”

“The editing and composition are similar… but watching Kim Go Eun’s acting again, it’s still heartbreaking.”
