Kim Eana recalled moments of the late Jong Hyun ahead of the 5th anniversary of his death.
On November 18th, Kim Eana made a long post on her Instagram account, saying “I often bring up stories about Jong Hyun on broadcasts without hesitation. I realized the anniversary is about to come again as I’ve been getting choked up in emotions since a few weeks ago.”
Sharing three live singing videos of SHINee Jong Hyun, she said, “Suddenly miss these moments when I got emotional because of Jong Hyun. I choked up while listening to ‘Breathe’ on the radio today to the point that my voice almost changed. At times like this, let’s lay on a straw mat and enjoy your longing with those who suffer the same feeling!”.
After explaining the three videos and revealing her emotions, Kim Eana said, “There are emotions that float like hot air balloons because we don’t want to face them. That was what I felt on the night Jong Hyun left. It’s not easy to organize those feelings and they often leave a long-lasting longing. However, I think it’s not a bad idea to let these emotions float a little longer. Anyway, I’m sure there are people who understand this sad feeling, which is a little frustrating.”
Lastly, she confessed, “I don’t quite remember how many times we have celebrated his anniversary. I feel like the times related to Jong Hyun have remained in a vacuum state. #SHINee Jong Hyun”.
Meanwhile, the late Jong Hyun left deep regret to many people when he passed away on December 18th, 2017 at the age of 27.

1. This is the all-time legendary live video according to my standard. I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this live video, which boosted my emotions to their peak, after becoming a fan of the song ‘Y Si Fuera Ella’. Perhaps the emotion delivered in this stage is so intense that the camera even shook and missed Jong Hyun’s movements. He (Jong Hyun) must have performed different moves from the rehearsal version. I’m sad seeing this friend pour his heart into the performance, and I think everyone needs to watch this video more.
2. I watched this stage when it was broadcast live. It was performed before the comeback title song’s stage. There was something wrong with the microphone so he adjusted his in-ears and put them back on. The mic wire got stuck in a strange way that made it look like a piccolo, but SHINee performed a perfect intro despite that minor accident. All the precious members were so young at that time.
3. An unforgettable performance I watched with my own eyes. Most singers said that the stage of Sugarman was especially close to the audience seats with the cast sitting in the front row so they felt burdened while performing. As expected, our lovely Jong Hyun showed off his amazing talent even in that situation. Whenever the song ‘Only The Words I Love You’ is requested on my radio, I always play Jong Hyun’s version and recall that day. It was a very meaningful video for me because I was there.
