The male singer who admitted that he lied about having cancer has passed away after making an extreme choice.
According to the Gangnam police station, singer Choi Seong Bong was found dead at his personal residence in Yeoksam-dong in the morning of June 21st.
On the morning of June 20th, Choi Seong Bong published his suicide note on his YouTube channel, saying, “If you are reading this post, then I must have died. I am sincerely sorry for everyone who has been affected by my mistake. In the past 2 years, I have tried hard to pay back all the donation money I received. Now, I will use my death to atone for my crime”.
Based on the condition of Choi Seong Bong at the scene, his will, and the aforementioned note, the police believe that Choi Seong Bong has made an extreme choice. They are also investigating his family circumstances for more information.
On the other hand, Choi Seong Bong was a runner-up of the TV program “Korea’s Got Talent 2011”. In 2021, he became embroiled in controversies of faking cancer to ask for donations from fans.
At the time, a YouTuber also accused Choi Seong Bong of using this money to buy an imported car and indulging in entertainment facilities.
Choi Seong Bong eventually wrote a letter, where he apologized to fans and admitted to faking cancer, at the same time promising to work hard to pay back the money.
