Kim Soo Hyun & Kim Ji Won’s drama “Queen of Tears” broadcast remains undecided, tvN hesitates to mention schedule 

It is unknown when the viewers will be able to watch Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won’s drama “Queen of Tears”.

The release of tvN’s new drama “Queen of Tears” (written by Park Ji Eun/ directed by Jang Young Woo & Kim Hee Won), which was scheduled to air in the second half of 2023, has been postponed. The new release date has not yet been decided. 

“Queen of Tears” depicts a miraculous love story in which a couple overcomes a thrilling crisis. Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won have been confirmed as the lead actors and will form a couple in the drama.

Earlier in December last year, tvN announced the casting news of “Queen of Tears” along with the information that the drama would be released in the second half of 2023. In February this year, “Queen of Tears” was included in 2023 tvN dramas lineup.

Later in April, Star News reported that the drama had been organized as a December weekend drama. In this regard, tvN said, “The drama will air in the second half of this year”, but they were still in the process of producing it with the aim of the December broadcast. 

However, a variable emerged. “Maestra”, starring Lee Young Ae, has been organized as tvN’s weekend drama this December.

Due to the changed schedule of “Maestra”, “Queen of Tears” failed to proceed with its original plan. tvN originally planned to air it as a follow-up drama to “Diva of the Deserted Island” but has delayed it to 2024.

Fans and drama viewers who have been waiting for “Queen of Tears” were quite disappointed by the sudden change. Recently, the production team stated, “The drama has been confirmed to air on tvN but its specific release date is still undecided”.

In fact, hints about the cancellation of “Queen of Tears” broadcast in the second half of 2023 had already spread in June. Back then, tvN unveiled the lineup for the latter half of 2023 but “Queen of Tears” was absent from the list. 

Moreover, tvN seems to be hesitant about the broadcast of “Queen of Tears”. While broadcasting insiders said the drama is being organized for the first half of 2024, tvN keeps repeating its “Schedule undecided” position. Considering tvN’s position, the production of “Queen of Tears” seems to be uncertain, causing confusion among fans.
