According to Xports News on August 19th, Kim Mu-yeol and Shin Si-ah joined as the main cast of “The Old Woman with the Knife”, directed by Min Kyu-dong. The film recently completed shooting.
“The Old Woman with the Knife” is based on the novel of the same name by Koo Byung-mo and tells the story of a conflict between Hornclaw, a female killer in her 60s, and Bullfight, a young male killer. The story was also adapted into a musical, which ran from March to May.
In the film adaptation of “The Old Woman with the Knife”, Lee Hye-young and Kim Sung-cheol were previously cast as Hornclaw and Bullfight, respectively. Kim Mu-yeol and Shin Si-ah’s addition to the cast solidified the lineup. Kim Mu-yeol will portray Ryu, the mentor of Hornclaw, while Shin Si-ah will play the younger version of Hornclaw, depicting her past story.
Kim Mu-yeol has been incredibly active in his career. He met audiences in the first half of this year with the film “The Roundup: Punishment” and appeared in Netflix’s “Sweet Home Season 3” and Disney+’s “No Way Out: The Roulette” in July. He’s also set to appear in the upcoming TVING drama “The Queen ‘Woo'”, premiering later this month. With the news of his role in “The Old Woman with the Knife”, he continues his busy streak.
Shin Si-ah, who rose to fame with the 2022 film “The Witch : Part 2. The Other One”, has since not appeared in new works. This is partly due to the indefinite postponement of her tvN drama “Wise Resident Life” amid controversy surrounding a resident doctors’ strike. However, with her confirmed role in “The Old Woman with the Knife”, she reassures her fans.
“The Old Woman with the Knife” is currently in post-production and is expected to be released in the first half of next year.
