Popular K-Dramas Are Coming Back With Spinoffs (Hospital Playlist, Strong Girl Bong-soon And More)
Fans are looking forward to the return of some popular dramas through their follow-up seasons
Spinoff is a new story created based on the existing worldview of a drama or a movie. Various dramas, which boasted syndrome-level popularity, have confirmed plans to release spinoffs, drawing high expectations from viewers.
Strong Girl Nam-soon
JTBC’s drama “Strong Girl Nam-soon” is a spinoff of the 2017 series “Strong Girl Bong-soon”. Unlike her skinny and short appearance, Do Bong-soon (Park Bo-young), the main character of the previous season, has extraordinary strength.
The spinoff will star Lee Yoo-mi, Kim Jong-eun, and Kim Hae-sook as mothers and daughters of three generations who possess superhuman strength. They will dig into new drug crimes in Gangnam, Seoul.
The drama is set to premiere on JTBC at 10:30 p.m. on October 7th.
Good Or Bad Dongjae
TVing is producing “Good Or Bad Dongjae”. This drama centers around Seo Dong-jae (Lee Jun-hyuk), an impressive supporting character in tvN’s series “Stranger”.
Seo Dong-jae was so well-loved by viewers due to his image as a prosecutor who goes back and forth between the good and the bad. This has led to the production of an exclusive drama for him as the main character. This project is expected to soothe the disappointment of fans who are waiting for the new season of “Stranger”. Its timing schedule is still undecided.
Wise Resident Life
As a spinoff of tvN’s popular series “Hospital Playlist”, “Wise Resident Life” will continue to depict the hospital life and friendship stories of professors and residents at a university hospital.
Moving the background from Yulje Main Hospital to Yulje Hospital in Jongno, this spinoff will focus on the lives of OB-GYN residents. The hospital life of novice doctors who face new experiences like everyone else in their social life, the friendship of young people during harsh training, and the growth of residents will unfold in this drama.
Actress Go Yoon-jung, who recently showed passionate acting performances in “Alchemy of Souls” and “Moving”, will appear among the main cast. She will transform into a first-year resident at Jongno Yulje Hospital’s OB-GYN Department and challenge a doctor role for the first time.
In addition, “The Witch 2” star Shin Si-a, Han Ye-ji, Kang Yoo-seok, and Jung Joon-won have been cast to complete Yulje’s OB-GYN resident team in Jongno together with Go Yoon-jung. The drama is scheduled to air in the first half of 2024.
Mina, You Changed Your Profile Picture Again?
Known as the spinoff of the 2021 web drama “Damn Good Company”, “Mina, You Changed Your Profile Picture Again?” features assistant manager Lee Mi-na (Kim Tae-young) as the main character.
While “Damn Good Company” was about the sorrows of Jo Chong-beom (Nam Hyun-woo) as he joins the small and medium-sized trading company Jungseung, the spinoff will tell about the hyper-realistic romance of Lee Mi-na, who often changes profile pictures as well as boyfriends.
It is planned to air on Watcha but the exact timing has not yet been decided.
