Krystal chose “Cobweb” without looking at the script, first time at Cannes feels like a dream
Actress Jung Soo Jung (Krystal) expressed her feelings about entering Cannes with “Cobweb”.
Jung Soo Jung (Krystal) had an interview regarding the movie “Cobweb” (directed by Kim Jee Woon) with Im Soo Jung and Oh Jung Se at Korean Film Council’s booth, Palais des Festivals, Cannes, France on the afternoon of May 26th (local time, morning of May 27th KST).
Jung Soo Jung talked about joining “Cobweb”, “It started filming in March last year. A meeting offer came 3 months before that. I thought ‘I’ll do this’ without looking at the script. I really wanted to be a part of the movie. When I received the script, I felt that the 1970s was attractive, so it’d be cool if I did it well.“
She recalled, “I was lucky to be a part (of the movie). I was suggested to play the role of Yu Rim from the beginning. I prepared with the thought ‘I’ll do what the director tells me to do’.”
Regarding the role of Yu Rim, she said, “Actually, I was worried that Yu Rim would be seen as a character who always whines. Yu Rim doesn’t always whine. She just does everything she needs to do. She’s a character with a charm that can’t be hated.”
Jung Soo Jung entered the Cannes Film Festival for the first time with this film. She smilingly confessed, “Actually, I did this work when I started acting in earnest. My acquaintances said ‘Work hard and go to Cannes’. Of course, I didn’t think this would happen, but it came true. It’s like a dream.“
Cobweb”, which was selected to be screened out of competition, is about director Kim (Song Kang Ho), who is obsessed with the fact that the ending of the movie Cobweb, which was filmed in the 1970s, would be better if re-filmed. It depicts the sad and funny things that happen while filming under conditions.
It is a new film directed by Kim Jee Woon, who directed “A Bittersweet Life”, “The Good, the Bad, the Weird” and “The Age of Shadows”. The cast included Song Kang Ho, Im Soo Jung, Oh Jung Se, Jeon Yeo Bin, Jung Soo Jung (Krystal), Park Jung Soo and Jang Young Nam.
