Jeon Somi Introduces Her Highlighter Amid High Price Controversy, “I’m Not A Figurehead, I Researched Myself”

Singer Jeon Somi showcased the highlighter product from her newly launched beauty brand GLYF for the first time

On April 4th, the YouTube channel “LeoJ Makeup” uploaded a new video featuring the guest appearance of Jeon Somi.

In the video, LeoJ said, “I saw on TikTok that you’re making a highlighter”, adding “Have you really made it yourself? Haven’t they just borrowed your name?”. Jeon Somi immediately denied it, saying “No, I’m not a figurehead. I researched myself.”

LeoJ then asked, “There are many kinds of cosmetics. You could make an eyeshadow kit, foundation, lens, or nails, which you are into. Why did you make a highlighter, of all things?”. In response, Jeon Somi said, “There was not a perfect highlighter, in my opinion.”

She continued, “I always mixed multiple colors or multiple products, which was such a hassle. While I was planning this product with this thought, I once wondered, ‘Am I the only one who complains?’. So, I invited a few K-pop idol friends and had a meeting at my home. I asked them, ‘Which highlighter do you use?’, and I learned that all of them were mixing multiple colors.”

Introducing her highlighter for the first time, Jeon Somi boasted, “I did the packaging myself”. LeoJ asked, “Did you design the package, too?”. Jeon Somi replied, “Yes. I drew this when I was in elementary school. It’s my first product, so…”.

Jeon Somi emphasized, “I thoroughly checked even the slightest pearls and the weight. First, I cared about the color. I kept applying my products and tested them. I’m not a figurehead”.

Meanwhile, when Jeon Somi’s brand opened its official channel at the end of March, the price of her highlighter palette was also revealed to be 43,000 won, sparking a controversy among netizens.
