IVE’s Jang Wonyoung attracted attention as she indirectly revealed her past struggles
On Oct 19th, IVE made a full-group appearance on the YouTube channel “15ya”. IVE released their 1st EP “I’VE MINE” on Oct 13th, and they are currently promoting the triple title tracks “Baddie”, “Off The Record” and “Either Way”.
Jang Wonyoung shared, “Among the triple title tracks, I like ‘Either Way’ the most. It’s a song that talks about ‘me’ from others’ perspectives. Sometimes, it’s unfair to receive incomprehensible gazes, but in the end, since what they say about ‘me’ and what ‘I’ think about ‘myself’ are the same, let’s love them all. I liked such positive lyrics.”
Jang Wonyoung has earned the nickname “elementary president” as she is like a princess with beautiful looks and Barbie-like body ratio, receiving strong support from both the MZ generation and the alpha generation. Her charming appearance, along with her kind and polite personality, has made her popular even among industry insiders. However, with great popularity comes great scrutiny, and she has been the target of cyberbullying and malicious comments. Jang Wonyoung’s words brought to mind these past difficulties, evoking sympathy from fans.
She also expressed her passion for acting.
When asked by PD Na Young-seok if she had developed an interest in acting after doing it in music videos, Jang Wonyoung replied, “If there’s an opportunity, I’d like to try it.” An Yujin caused laughter as she playfully prevented, “Wait a bit. IVE is still actively promoting.”
