“IU is North Korea’s first-class spy”…A handout with absurd content appeared

A tabloid which contains the absurd claim that IU is North Korea’s first-class spy and the main character of the Daejang-dong corruption appeared, causing controversy.

Recently, a post titled “IU tabloid” was uploaded on online communities.

The original poster (OP) attached a photo of IU and mentioned, “She was the main character of Daejang-dong.” OP then marked former President Moon Jae In and IU as “the same team”.

In addition, absurd words such as “first-class spy IU” and “IU sells global Woori Bank and North Korean bank” were listed. The document is believed to have been scattered in a parking lot.

This is not the first time that a handout containing groundless stories about IU has been found.

Another document that was recently circulated showed absurd words such as “North Korea’s first-class spy IU”, “South Korea will die if you don’t listen to IU, a celebrity in the North Korean cultural industry”…

In the meantime, IU has been suing those who spread false information.

In December last year, her agency EDAM Entertainment announced, “We have identified the perpetrator who has consistently written false information and defamation posts about IU and filed a lawsuit. The perpetrator admitted to the criminal charges and was fined 3 million won.”

The agency added, “We plan to take strict measures to make sure that those who take advantage of the fact that you can anonymously write on the bulletin boards of online communities and commit malicious acts against our artists will be subject to strong legal punishment. We want to make it clear that there will be no agreement or leniency in this process.”
