Korean netizens are buzzing, especially since the film has garnered much praise from both media outlets and international audiences who got a sneak peek at film festivals.

During its screening at the Berlin International Film Festival, “Exhuma” received a lengthy round of applause from the audience. Social media has also been buzzing with positive comments about the film.

On Naver, some viewers even went so far as to hail “Exhuma” as the best Korean horror film since “The Wailing,” promising it to be the standout of 2024.

Here are some comments from the audience:

  • Exhuma deserves to be called the best Korean horror film since “The Wailing.”
  • I had chills throughout the movie. It’s not just scary, but it also carries deep messages.
  • I’d bet it’ll be tough for any other Korean film to top this one in the coming year. It’s truly exceptional.
  • The pacing, the mysterious vibe, and the tension are maintained flawlessly from start to finish. The cast is top-notch.
  • I believe Exhuma will pave the way for a new era of mysterious and spiritually themed Korean films.
  • My only problem is that the film feels a tad too long; I wish it had been more concise.

“Exhuma” follows a wealthy family in Los Angeles who calls upon a young couple of exorcists (played by Kim Go Eun and Lee Do Hyun) to save their newborn child after a series of mysterious attacks.

The exorcist duo soon realizes that the family is haunted by darkness from their ancestors’ grave. In their quest for answers, they seek the help of a renowned feng shui master (Choi Min Sik) and a funeral director (Yoo Hae Jin).

Together, they embark on the task of excavating and relocating the grave in a remote village in exchange for a hefty sum of money, only to inadvertently unleash a deeply buried evil force.
