Here’s why Japanese fans are crazy about SEVENTEEN, who sold out Tokyo Dome for 2 days with 100,000 attendees

SEVENTEEN has entered Tokyo Dome, the dream stage of every artist and attracted 100,000 fans. What is the secret of their huge popularity in Japan?

SEVENTEEN (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, Dino) held their world tour “BE THE SUN – JAPAN” at Tokyo Dome on November 26th and 27th.

Over 100,000 fans came to see SEVENTEEN’s concert at Tokyo Dome for two days. The age range of Japanese local fans who visited Tokyo Dome to cheer for SEVENTEEN is diverse, ranging from teenagers to those in their 60s or older.  

The faces of Japanese CARATs (SEVENTEEN’s official fandom name), who are united by their love for SEVENTEEN, despite their different ages and regions, were full of happiness.

While waiting for the concert, they were holding fans with the members’ names on them, slogans written in Korean such as “I love you,” “Congratulations on entering Tokyo Dome,” “Thank you for coming to Japan,” and “Let’s be together in the future.”

What is the reason why so many local women of various ages fell in love with SEVENTEEN? Korean media outlet Wikitree has directly asked Japanese CARATs who were at Tokyo Dome.

Reika Nakamura (19) said, “I’ve been a SEVENTEEN fan since 2017. I’m looking forward to seeing them perform at Tokyo Dome. The members all sing well and dance well.”

MUU (26) said she came all the way to Tokyo Dome from Yokohama alone. She was holding a lightstick in one hand and a fan with a picture of SEVENTEEN’s leader S.Coups in the other.

She said, “I am so happy that SEVENTEEN has made their dream come true by performing at Tokyo Dome, and that I was able to be there with them. Also, it was fun to see the members shining bright and smiling happily on stage.”

Then, when asked if there was anything she wanted to say to the members, she expressed her affection for SEVENTEEN, saying, “I will continue to support you so that you can walk on a happy path. I love you SEVENTEEN.”

Mai (31) from Hiroshima, has been a CARAT since 2019.  As for the reason why she liked SEVENTEEN, she cited the group’s music and the close relationship between the members.

Another fan in her 50s, who requested anonymity, said, “SEVENTEEN is a group that has no reasons to not do well. The members said they wanted to hold a concert at a stadium today, and I will go on that journey together with them.” 

In addition, Japanese fans interviewed by Wikitree that day all praised SEVENTEEN’s performances and teamwork.

After the Tokyo Dome concert, SEVENTEEN’s lightsticks were shining brightly all over the windows of the Tokyo Dome Hotel located right in front of the concert hall. 

Local CARATs who all had excited expressions throughout the interview, said this in unison when asked if they had a message they wanted to convey to SEVENTEEN, “Congratulations on entering Tokyo Dome. Please continue to promote for a long time. We will always support you. We love SEVENTEEN!”

Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN held their world tour “BE THE SUN – JAPAN” at Kyocera Dome in Osaka on November 19th and 20th, Tokyo Dome on November 26th and 27th, and will hold two more shows at Vantelin Dome Nagoya on December 3rd and 4th.
