Han Seo-hee, a former idol trainee who was sentenced to one and a half years in prison for taking drugs during the probation period, opposed the first trial’s ruling.
According to OSEN on November 23rd, Han Seo-hee came to court on November 19th. Han Seo-hee was sentenced to one and a half years in prison for violating Korea’s Drug Control Act on November 17th and was arrested in court, but objected to the court ruling.
Earlier in 2016, Han Seo-hee was indicted on charges of four times purchasing a total of 9 grams of marijuana, rolling and smoking marijuana seven times at her home in Jung-gu, Seoul. On the charges, Han Seo-hee was sentenced to three years in prison, four years probation, an additional fine of 870,000 won, and 120 hours of drug treatment lectures in 2017.
Since then, she has been detained for 20 days at the probation center after tested positive for psychotropic drugs such as methamphetamine and amphetamine in an unexpected test by a probation office under Korea’s Ministry of Justice last year.
Han Seo-hee denied all charges related to drug administration, claiming it was an error in the urine test. She was released after her hair test conducted by the National Institute of Scientific Investigation came out as negative, but was later put on trial again after evidence of her drug use was secured. She then eventually failed to avoid a prison term.
Immediately after hearing about the sentence, Han Seo-hee couldn’t control herself and used profanities in court. At the time, Han Seo-hee said, “I don’t think this is right, I’m not running away. I refuse to be bound. Judge, what are you doing? Are you saying you would issue an arrest warrant now? There’s no reason to follow that sentence.”
The judge then calmly explained “If you disagree with the ruling, follow the appropriate procedure. Please go to the defendant’s waiting room,” to which Han Seo-hee disagreed, “Judge, what are you even doing?” and reportedly swearing on her way to the waiting room, saying “XX, is this for real?” Han Seo-hee raised her voice in the defendant’s waiting room to such an extent that she could still be heard in the courtroom.
Meanwhile, Han Seo-hee was well-known to be an ex-YG trainee before leaving and opening her Youtube channel.
