Goo Hye-sun lost second trial of 170 million won damages lawsuit against former agency

On Feb 8th, the Seoul High Court’s Civil Division 5 (headed by Seol Beom-sik, Lee Jun-young and Choi Seong-bo) ruled in favor of the plaintiff, former agency HB Entertainment, in Goo Hye-sun’s lawsuit claiming damages of 170 million won, just like the first trial.

The dispute between Goo Hye-sun and HB Entertainment began in August 2019 when Goo Hye-sun notified the termination of her exclusive contract. The Korean Commercial Arbitration Board proposed a settlement condition where instead of terminating the exclusive contract, Goo Hye-sun would pay the agency 35 million won for expenses related to building YouTube channel content.

After paying this amount, Goo Hye-sun filed a lawsuit demanding YouTube channel appearance fees, editing service fees, music usage fees and advertising revenue, but the first trial did not accept her claims.
