Actor Kang Dong Won talked about his unexpected family relationships
Kang Dong Won guested on tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block” broadcast on September 13th and shared various stories.
That day, Kang Dong Won said, “I have an older sister with a two-year gap”. He added, “I got along well with my sister and she really loved me. She used to hold my hands and take me here and there”.
He continued, “We were very close even when we were in high school. I think we got closer because I studied at a school with dormitories and we met very often. I wish we could meet more often…”, then hesitated for a moment.
The actor then revealed that he got kicked by his older sister once, saying “We fought sometimes. It was when both of us attended a Taekwondo academy. I got hit and flew away. The window was also broken”.
When asked if FC Seoul’s young soccer player Choi Joon Young is his nephew, Kang Dong Won replied, “That’s right”. As the MCs wondered, “Is this the first time you hear this?”, the actor explained, “My mom texted me yesterday and she told me that he just got into the national team”.
Yoo Jae Suk said, “Choi Joon Young said he wanted to become more famous than his uncle”. Hearing that, Kang Dong Won said, “It won’t be easy. Work hard”, drawing laughter.
Mentioning his 186cm height, the actor said, “My family members are a little big. My parents are all very tall. I was little in elementary school then grew to 154cm tall in middle school. I was 183cm in high school and later grew 3cm taller later on”.
Meanwhile, FC Seoul’s Choi Joon Young is a left-footed center-back. He won Best Young Player along with U18 Championship victory last year. He also contributed greatly to the team’s wins in Group A matches of this year’s K-League Junior U18 Electric League.
It was previously reported that Kang Dong Won and Gong Yoo had a surprising family relationship. Their grandfathers were close friends even before the two were born and they ended up becoming in-laws as the siblings of their parents married each other.
