Unlike “Squid Game 2” power trip, this drama’s production team sent coffee trucks to residents near filming site

As “Squid Game 2” apologized for power tripping controversy, netizens re-examined the nice behavior of another drama production team.

On July 9th, an online community user posted a photo of ENA’s Wed-Thu drama “Battle for Happiness” production staff sending coffee trucks to the residents who cooperated with the filming. The company that supported the coffee trucks stated, “To express our gratitude to the residents for their cooperation during the filming, we delivered cool coffee to more than 500 residents.”

Starring Lee El, Jin Seo Yeon, Cha Ye Ryeon, and Park Hyo Joo, “Battle for Happiness” is based on a novel of the same name by writer Joo Young Ha. It’s a suspense thriller about mothers who are engaged in fierce social media competitions and a mystery that begins when one of them dies and one among them hides the truth while others want to reveal it.

Seeing the coffee truck support project planned by “Battle for Happiness” production team, netizens commented, “After reading articles about filming staff’s mistreatment towards residents, it’s heartwarming to see this kind of story”, “That’s amazing”, “The drama was also very interesting”, etc.

There have recently been cases in which drama production teams apologized for netizens’ complaints about discomfort caused by filming staff’s actions.

In April, the production team of “You Have Done Well”, starring IU and Park Bo Gum, released an apology for preventing tourists from entering the Gochang Green Barley Field Festival where the drama filming took place.

In May, another netizen posted a photo of a drama production car blocking the entrance of their house and complained, “I asked them to move, but they kept parking in front of my house. They are still filming in front of my house”. It turned out to be the production team of “History of Losers”.

After the related articles were published, “History of Losers” team stated, “We’ve personally met with the person who suffered damage due to our action, explained our position at the time, and apologized to them. We apologize once again for not paying enough attention to detail during the filming process.”

Netflix’s “Squid Game 2” was also embroiled in a similar controversy.

On July 10th, a netizen complained, “Yesterday, I saw that Squid Game 2 was being filmed because there were a lot of cameras at Incheon Airport. It was truly ridiculous. When I tried to use the escalator, a staff member, who seemed to be over 180 cm tall and was wearing a black T-shirt with English text, blocked people trying to use the escalator. He confidently and rudely ordered them to go somewhere else.”

In response, the production team of “Squid Game 2” issued an apology, saying “We received reports that citizens experienced discomfort during the filming of ‘Squid Game 2’ at Incheon Airport on the 10th. We made our best efforts to provide detailed explanations about the on-site situation to the citizens during the filming process, but we apologize for causing inconvenience.”
