G-Dragon’s Legal Expenses Expected To Be 2 Billion Won, His Denial Of Drug Use A Strategy?

The public is waiting to see the future moves of G-Dragon after denying drug charges

On October 27th, Reporter-turned-Youtuber Lee Jin-ho said, “I was very surprised to see the law firm appointed by G-Dragon. His lawyer is the former judge of the Constitutional Court in the presidential impeachment case”, adding “G-Dragon is preparing for this situation very thoroughly”.

He emphasized, “In this case, he needs to pay a lot of money. This law firm normally charges around 1 billion won for a general celebrity case. Depending on the person they defend, the lawyer can get around 500 million to 1 billion won”, adding “When it comes to special cases or when dealing with legally unfavorable matters, the law firm may charge a lot more. If they go all out, they will get paid a significant amount, possibly ranging from 1 billion to 2 billion won”

“According to a person who contacted G-Dragon, the male idol’s first response was ‘I haven’t been contacted by the police’. Since G-Dragon reacted to his case like that, I guess he was very frustrated”, Lee Jin-ho said. Regarding the reason a ban on leaving Korea was imposed, the YouTuber said, “It is because they wanted him to be investigated instead of letting him admit the allegations”.

The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency’s Drug Crime Investigation Team recently booked G-Dragon and Lee Sun-kyun without detention on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. 12 years ago, in 2011, G-Dragon was sent to prosecution for smoking marijuana at a Japanese club but the prosecutor suspended the case.

On the 27th, G-Dragon denied all the drug allegations through lawyer Kim Soo-hyun of K1 Chamber law firm, saying “I didn’t take drugs. I have nothing to do with the recent media reports on the violation of the Narcotics Control Act”, adding “I know the issue has caused great concerns to many people so I will actively cooperate with the investigation and answer faithfully”.

Lawyer Yang Ji-min appeared on YTN’s “Newswide” broadcast on October 29th and said, “The police must have had some specific evidence that they decided to conduct an investigation on him. Although he denied it, we still need to consider the possibility of a strategy”, adding “Even assuming that drug administration was true, he could still get away from the investigation if it happened a long time ago”. The lawyer speculated, “There’s a possibility that he may claim to have administered drugs without knowing. Or maybe he would argue that what he took was not illegal and was legally prescribed by a hospital”.
