The Reason Why If G-Dragon’s Drug Charges Are True, He Will Receive Heavier Punishment

If the charges are revealed to be true, a bigger sentence could be imposed on G-Dragon

Lawyer Lim Hye-joo said in an interview with Yonhap News TV on October 28th, “If it turns out that G-Dragon has addiction or causes social harm, it could add to his previously problematic history and he will receive a bigger sentence.”

G-Dragon was investigated by prosecutors in 2011 over marijuana use. At the time, YG Entertainment, G-Dragon’s agency, explained, “A young Japanese invited him to smoke cigarettes during drinking in his Japanese tour, he inhaled two or three sips in response to favors.”

The prosecution suspended the indictment of G-Dragon, saying that he was a first-time offender, not a habitual drug user, and that he did not meet the criteria for sentencing drug offenses due to his low smoking amount.

The following year, G-Dragon appeared on SBS’s “Healing Camp” and said, “I was surprised, but I was embarrassed and there were many things that seemed unfair.” “I’ve never done that before, but I was informed that I tested positive for marijuana, so I honestly didn’t believe where it went wrong in the beginning,” he said.

“I was hurt when I saw the comment saying, ‘I knew it.’ I was surprised that it had become something they had already expected. When I read these articles saying I am the axis of evil in Big Bang, I’m shocked rather than feeling unfair. “I thought, ‘You’ve done a really big mistake, a lot of people are already expecting this,'” he said, expressing his frustration.

Earlier on the 25th, the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency’s drug crime investigation team booked G-Dragon without detention on drug charges under the Narcotics Control Act. The exact type, frequency, and circumstances of his drug use have not yet been announced. The police are reportedly coordinating the summoning investigation schedule for G-Dragon. However, G-Dragon strongly denies the drug charges.
