Former child actress who made waves in “SKY Castle”: Huge potential but has yet to land another breakout lead role

This 1995-born actress has been acting since she was 10.

Kim Bo Ra started out as a child actress and has been acting for almost two decades. Making her debut at 10, it only took Kim Bora 2 years to successfully gain viewers’ attention when she starred in “Kimchi Cheese Smile”. Although she took on a minor role, her charm was overwhelming. She later caught the eyes of many casting directors and producers in the industry. Three years later, at the age of 15, she got her first lead role in “Jungle Fish 2”.

Although Kim Bo Ra had great potential, compared to other former child actors of the same age, she could not receive the same amount of attention. When starring in the hit drama “School 2015”, she was barely noticed and was completely overshadowed by Kim So Hyun.

It was not until she was over 20 that Kim Bo Ra began to create more buzz. Her lovely visuals are said to resemble Kim Ji Won and Sulli. Kim Bo Ra’s peach-like vibes particularly remind many viewers of Sulli’s iconic beauty. Having both looks and skills, from the age of 24 onwards, Kim Bo Ra was considered one the most promising actresses in their 20s.

In 2019, Kim Bo Ra got her big break by starring in the K-drama phenomenon “SKY Castle”. Hye Na, the character played by Kim Bo Ra, is one of the most memorable and important characters of the show. Kim Bo Ra’s amazing acting earned her a “legendary” role, winning the hearts of many viewers.

Despite having “SKY Castle” as a perfect stepping stone to reach more heights in her career, Kim Bo Ra unfortunately slowed down compared to other young co-stars like Kim Hye Yoon. Kim Bo Ra seemed to be stuck in her “SKY Castle” role, constantly playing a student without changing her image and bringing something new. The works she starred in after “SKY Castle” such as “Ghostderella”, “Touch”, “Love Scene Number”,… were all unsuccessful. Fans are hoping that Kim Bo Ra’s agency will select better projects for her so her talent will not go to waste.
