FIFTY FIFTY Controversy: Recorded Conversation of CEOs Jeon Hong Joon and Ahn Sung Il Released

YouTuber Lee Jin Ho has dropped a recorded conversation involving CEOs Jeon Hong Joon and Ahn Sung Il regarding the cancellation of FIFTY FIFTY’s ‘Barbie’ OST MV filming.

On July 19th, former reporter and YouTuber Lee Jin Ho uploaded a video titled “Was it planned? I got a recording related to FIFTY FIFTY Barbie MV.” In this video, a conversation between Jeon Hong Joon and Ahn Sung Il was revealed. Lee Jin Ho stated that the recording was made on June 20th, right after the cancellation of FIFTY FIFTY’s filming for the MV for the movie ‘Barbie’.

In the recording, Jeon Hong Joon expressed his frustration, “If they film the Barbie MV, they will become known, and so will you. But a lawsuit was filed, and the law firm’s attorneys discussed it, saying we shouldn’t proceed. How am I supposed to handle this?

Ahn Sung Il sighed and replied, “First, I’ll talk to the US side and have a conversation with the four members. I’ll deliver your intentions.” Jeon Hong Joon urged for the return of the FIFTY FIFTY members to the agency, “We need them to return as soon as possible…

Before Jeon Hong Joon could finish speaking, Ahn Sung Il interrupted firmly, “I’ll take responsibility for this. Let’s finish this first. I’ll only accept the song. I think it’s best for me not to be involved anymore.”

Previously, Ahn Sung Il’s company, The Givers, released an official statement on July 17th, claiming that Jeon Hong Joon abruptly halted the filming of the ‘Barbie’ MV on June 20th. They stated that Ahn Sung Il strongly urged Jeon Hong Joon not to stop the filming due to concerns about potential damages, legal action, reputation damage, and the impact on FIFTY FIFTY’s career that could arise from stopping the shoot.

Regarding this, Lee Jin Ho commented, “If the MV was filmed, Jeon Hong Joon would have been the only one to suffer,” and explained that the FIFTY FIFTY members had submitted a request for an injunction against their exclusive contract on June 19th.

At that time, the members raised issues with “unclear accounting” by the agency and “the agency’s unilateral push to continue activities despite disclosing their health problems.” Filming the ‘Barbie’ music video could provide a basis for the claim of contract termination, as Jeon Hong Joon had already received evidence supporting the members’ claims.

Lee Jin Ho further clarified, “The person who pushed forward with activities despite the members revealing their unhealthy condition was none other than Ahn Sung Il.
