A day before its end, the hit drama of ENA channel “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” announced their plan to greet the audience again with Season 2.

Lee Sang-baek, CEO of AStory – the production company of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, said in an interview with Edaily on August 17th, “Thanks to the huge support of many people, we will be producing Season 2 of ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’”, adding “We are hoping to set the golden time at around 2024. Our goal is to air Season 2 at that time.”

CEO Lee continued, “We will have to go through a lot of discussions since it’s not easy to coordinate the schedule of the cast actors and the production team”, adding that there would be no replacement of the cast, the director, writer, and the production staff during the production process of Season 2. He shared, “As long as there are no unexpected events, our goal is to keep more than 90% of the current production team members”, adding “For this reason, it will take us a considerable amount of time to arrange the schedule but our plan for the production of Season 2 will not be changed.”

In addition, CEO Lee revealed that they planned to raise the viewers’ interest in the drama through the production of various contents using “Woo Young-woo” IP (Intellectual Property), such as webtoon, which has already been serialized even before Season 2 is broadcast, musicals, merchandise, etc.

“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” tells about Woo Young-woo, a rookie attorney who has both a genius brain and autism spectrum disorder, joining a large law firm called Hanbada and growing into a true attorney.

The drama received little attention in the beginning since it contains the unfamiliar topic of autism spectrum disorder and aired on ENA, which was a new channel to the majority of the public. However, it gradually made headlines and gained public sympathy for portraying the problems that exist in our society but have not been properly noticed and went viral. “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” received favorable reviews for telling stories about disadvantaged people in society, such as women, small businesses, LGBTQ+, North Korean defectors, etc., as well as real-life events based on true stories, such as the appointment of natural monuments and abolition of admission fees to cultural heritages.

According to Nielsen Korea, its viewer rating, which started at 0.9% in the first episode aired on June 29, surpassed 4% after three episodes and exceeded 11% in episode 7. The drama broke its own highest viewer rating record by reaching 15.8% in the 9th broadcast when actor Koo Kyo-hwan made a special appearance. Considering the fact that drama ratings are usually the highest in the final episode, “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” is expected to surpass 20% in its last broadcast.

Since there is one day left until the drama ends on August 18th, attention is focused on whether “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” will be able to reach its rating peak rating with the news of Season 2 production.
