Ex-Fantasy Boys Yoo Jun-won, the worst litigation case in the industry

On Nov 24th, the Seoul Western District Court’s Civil Division 21 rejected Yoo Jun-won’s request for the suspension of the effectiveness of the exclusive contract against Phunky Studio.

The court stated, “Between the creditor and the debtor, there is only an abstract agreement in which the creditor agrees to participate in the debtor’s incubating system for 5 years and perform entertainment activities, entrusting management and agency rights to the debtor. There is no specific agreement regarding the exclusive contract.”

The court added, “There is no basis for the debtor to engage in acts such as negotiating, concluding contracts with third parties regarding the creditor’s entertainment activities, or raising direct objections to the creditor’s entertainment activities in the current situation. It is difficult to perceive any concerns that the debtor will engage in such actions.”

The court judged that, based on the materials submitted so far, it is difficult to conclude that Phunky Studio made unreasonable demands on Yoo Jun-won or damaged trust to the extent of harming him.

Previously, Yoo Jun-won, who was selected as the first place in the “Fantasy Boys” debut group, continuously claimed unfair demands in terms of profit sharing, clothing, etc. compared to other members. He did not join Fantasy Boys before the official debut and filed a lawsuit against Phunky Studio for the suspension of the exclusive contract.

Accordingly, Phunky Studio filed a 3 billion won damage suit against Yoo Jun-won, leading to a legal battle. Throughout this process, Phunky Studio revealed that Yoo Jun-won’s side made more demands than other members based on his victory on the program, causing a stir.

With Yoo Jun-won’s loss in the legal dispute with Phunky Studio, he will ultimately have to bear the legal costs and lawyer fees, making this case the worst litigation case in the industry.
