Elon Musk and conservative personalities are angered by “Barbie”?

Tesla’s CEO and owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, left a negative review after watching the newly-released movie “Barbie”.

On July 24th, Elon Musk expressed his dissatisfaction on SNS platform Twitter by posting, “If you take a shot every time Barbie says the word ‘patriarchy’, you will pass out before the movie ends.”

Earlier, a conservative critic, Ben Shapiro, also raised an issue over the mention of “patriarchy” in “Barbie”. In particular, Shapiro shared a video of himself destroying Barbie dolls onto a target and whined on Twitter, “All you need to known about #BarbieTheMovie is that it unironically uses the word ‘patriarchy’ more than 10 times”.

In addition, Ginder, wife of Republican politician Matt Gaetz, also condemned the “Barbie” movie, saying, “The 2023 Barbie movie, unfortunately, neglects to address any notion of faith or family, and tries to normalize the idea that men and women can’t collaborate positively (yuck). I really wanted to enjoy it, but ended up feeling let down.”

She even went as far as to call for a boycott of Barbie dolls.

Meanwhile, “Barbie” has received strong backlash from conservative personalities. In particular, Movieguide, a movie review site for Christians, said, “The new ‘Barbie’ movie forgets its core audience of families and children while catering to nostalgic adults and pushing transgender character stories.”

It also further condemned the movie, adding, “Furthermore, the movie was poorly made with multiple premises, losing even the most die-hard fans” and warning parents against taking their daughter to see “Barbie”.

Last month, a Christian pastor’s video criticizing “Barbie” for being filled with “LGBT agenda” also spread online.

Meanwhile, “Barbie” is a film that revolves around Barbie (played by Margot Robbie), who lives in the Barbie Land, where anything can happen, but later discovers a portal connecting to the real world. She then embarks on an unexpected journey with Ken (played by Ryan Gosling) to solve the mystery.
