BTS’s Jimin’s Song Drops 110 Spots on Spotify: A Lack of Public Attention?

The plummet of BTS’s Jimin’s newly-released song on the global music streaming platform Spotify is causing concern.

Recently, BTS’s Jimin made a comeback with his second solo album titled “Muse” and its title track “Who”. The return of the BTS member has garnered attention from Kpop fans. Despite being in the military, Jimin still promotes his music meticulously, including two MVs, promotions on American television, and numerous other activities. With one of the largest fan bases among global music groups, Jimin easily set record achievements.

On the first day of release, the title “Who” topped iTunes charts in 115 countries and territories. Additionally, “Who” set a Spotify record with a massive debut of 7.9 million listens on the first day and in the US alone, “Who” garnered over 946,000 streams on Spotify.

Before the release of “Muse”, fans of BTS’s Jimin focused on streaming his pre-release track “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band”, ensuring the song maintained a stable ranking. In the US, the song consistently held its position with daily streams ranging from 650,000 to 700,000. However, when all attention shifted to the new album and its title, the pre-release single “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band” experienced a sharp decline on Spotify US.

As of today, July 22, “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band” has dropped 110 spots, falling to #165 on Spotify US. This is an unprecedented drop for Jimin’s solo songs on this chart.

This situation reflects a concerning reality: very few members of the public listen to Jimin’s music. Despite his high achievements, his music has not reached a wide audience, but rather is most enjoyed by fans. As a result, when fans focus on streaming a different song, “Smeraldo Garden Marching Band” experiences a drastic drop in rankings.

In terms of popularity and viral potential, Jimin’s new album has yet to prove its strength. The general audience is not particularly interested in his latest release. Even in his home country of South Korea, Jimin struggles on domestic charts.
