World-famous group BTS succeeded in winning “Group of the Year” at the 2022 MTV VMA, making this their 4th year in a row.
The 2022 MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMA) was held at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, USA on the morning of August 29th (Korean time).
Here, BTS was nominated for a total of 6 nominations, including Best K-pop, Best Visual Effects, Best Metaverse Performance, Group of the Year, and Song of the Summer, raising expectations for winning for the 4th consecutive year. Among these nominations, BTS secured a win for Group of the Year, proving their global personality.
Starting with 2 awards in 2019, BTS won Best Pop, Best K-Pop, Best Choreography, and Group of the Year. in 2020. In 2021, they took the lead in 3 categories: Group of theYear, Best K-Pop, and Song of Summer, winning awards for the 3rd year in a row.
At this year’s MTV VMA, Kpop groups other than BTS also stood out, BLACKPINK was nominated in 3 categories: Group of the Year, Best Metaverse Performance, and Best K-Pop (Lisa), and among them, they won the Metaverse Performance and Best K-Pop categories.
SEVENTEEN was nominated for three categories: Best K-Pop, Best New Artist, and PUSH Performance of the Year, and won the PUSH Performance of the Year category.
On the other hand, the MTV VMA is one of the four major music awards in the US along with the Grammy Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, and the American Music Awards.
