Lisa, a member of K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, won two awards at the “2022 MTV Video Music Awards,” one of the major pop music awards in the U.S.
BLACKPINK received the “Best Metaverse Performance” award, which is newly established this year, at the “2022 MTV VMAs” held at the Prudential Center in New Jersey on the morning of August 29th (KST).
Lisa was given the award at the “2022 MTV VMAs” red carpet and pre-show held before the main awards ceremony. BLACKPINK won the award with their PUBG MOBILE in-game concert.
As virtual concerts have been on the rise recently, the 2022 MTV VMAs, which is known as one of the four major local pop music awards, quickly introduces this new award category. Global supergroup BTS was also nominated in the same category for their performance in Minecraft.

“We will do our best to show you better performances in the future. We will repay our fans through our second full album ‘Born Pink’ (which is scheduled to be released on September 16) and world tour.”
Lisa also lifted the trophy and said, “Thank you Teddy, YG, and all the staff who worked on my solo project together. Thank you to BLINK and all of mye members.” The other members of BLACKPINK, Jisoo, Jennie and Rosé, who were watching Lisa’s award on the spot, shared the joy together with Lisa.
In particular, BLACKPINK performed as the first K-pop girl group to do so at the awards ceremony. The song they choose is the pre-release song of their second full album “Born Pink,” “Pink Venom,” which was released on August 19th.
