BTS tops star brand reputation ranking of June 2023

According to the big data analysis for star brand reputation in June 2023, BTS, Lim Young Woong, and PSY took the top 3.

From May 30th to June 30th of 2023, the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute measured a total of 225,079,965 pieces of big data for star brands, and analyzed consumer behavior to measure participation index, media index, communication index, and community index. Compared to the previous month’s big data of 193,176,055 pieces, this month’s data increased by 16.51%.

Brand reputation index is an indicator created through brand big data analysis, which identifies that consumers’ online habits have a significant impact on brand consumption. Star brand reputation analysis can measure the relationship with consumers, positive/negative evaluations, media interest, and consumer interest and communication volume regarding star brands.

Star Brand Reputation analysis targeted the top brands in the Brand Reputation Rankings, and focused on entertainers, singers, trot singers, drama actors, movie actors, boy groups, girl groups, and sports figures. 

On the other hand, the Top 30 in June 2023 star brand reputation ranking, in sequential order, includes: BTS, Lim Young Woong, Psy, Son Heung Min, Kang Daniel, aespa, BLACKPINK, IU, (G)I-DLE, SEVENTEEN, IVE, Yoo Jae Seok, Uhm Jung Hwa, Ma Dong Seok, Lee Chan Won, Baek Jong Won, NewJeans, Stray Kids, Park Seo Joon, MONSTA X, Song Joong Ki, TWICE, SHINee, LE SSERAFIM, NCT, Tak Jae Hoon, Lee Jun Hyuk, Oh My Girl, Lee Byung Hun, and Ryu Hyun Jin.

BTS, who recorded the top spot in Star Brand Reputation, had a participation index of 538,958, a media index of 1,970,360, a communication index of 3,289,896, and a community index of 5,174,136, resulting in a brand reputation index of 10,973,349. This is an increase of 51.55% compared to the previous month’s brand reputation index.

In 2nd place, Lim Young Woong had a participation index of 1,638,726, a media index of 1,219,005, a communication index of 1,824,546, and a community index of 2,970,064, resulting in a brand reputation index of 7,652,341. Compared to the previous month’s brand reputation index of 7,163,678, it increased by 6.82%.

PSY, who came in 3rd place, had a participation index of 113,847, a media index of 1,542,969, a communication index of 2,187,565, and a community index of 1,890,867, resulting in a brand reputation index of 5,735,248, an increase of 125.72% compared to last month.

4th placer Son Heung Min had a participation index of 1,070,586, a media index of 1,748,049, a communication index of 1,425,572, and a community index of 1,401,949, resulting in a brand reputation index of 5,646,156. Compared to the previous month’s brand reputation index of 3,683,054, it increased by 53.30%.

Kang Daniel, who ranked 5th, had a participation index of 208,856, a media index of 927,418, a communication index of 1,466,373, and a community index of 2,165,333, resulting in a brand reputation index of 4,767,981. Compared to the previous month’s brand reputation index of 1,553,550, it increased by 206.91%.

Kang Chang Hwan, director of the Korea Corporate Reputation Research Institute, stated, “According to the big data analysis of Star Brand Reputation in June 2023, BTS brand ranked 1st. BTS recently celebrated their 10th anniversary by communicating with global fans, while Lim Young Woong has increased consumer participation by releasing new music. PSY brand has been active as a representative Hallyu brand, centered around concerts and media.”

Furthermore, he added, “Star brand reputation big data for June 2023 increased by 16.51% compared to the previous month. In a detailed analysis, brand consumption increased by 8.13%, brand issues increased by 7.54%, brand communication increased by 19.02%, and brand expansion increased by 24.40%.”
