BTS Takes the Top Spot in October Idol Brand Reputation, Surpassing BLACKPINK and NewJeans

According to the results of the big data analysis by the Korean Corporate Reputation Research Institute, 2nd place goes to BLACKPINK, and 3rd place goes to NewJeans

The Korean Corporate Reputation Research Institute extracted a total of 74,898,688 pieces of idol group brand big data from September 17th to October 17th. The brand reputation index is a metric created through brand big data analysis, which found that consumers’ online habits have a significant impact on brand consumption. This analysis measures the positive and negative evaluations, media attention, consumer interest, and communication volume related to idol group brands. Qualitative assessments from brand reputation monitoring are also included.

The idol group brand reputation analysis combines boy groups and girl groups under a brand category to measure the consumer participation index, media index, communication index, and community index related to idol group brands, resulting in the brand reputation index.

In October 2023, the top 10 idol group brand reputation rankings were as follows: BTS, BLACKPINK, NewJeans, IVE, SEVENTEEN, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, EXO, TWICE, Stray Kids, and ENHYPEN.

The brand with the highest reputation, BTS (RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, Jungkook), achieved a brand reputation index of 6,280,605 with participation index 391,314, media index 881,355, communication index 2,295,854, and community index 2,712,082. Compared to September, their brand reputation index increased by 9.39%.

In the 2nd place, BLACKPINK (Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, Lisa) achieved a brand reputation index of 4,917,759 with participation index 705,894, media index 891,424, communication index 1,318,547, and community index 2,001,894. Compared to September, their brand reputation index increased by 71.70%.

In 3rd place, NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) achieved a brand reputation index of 4,721,727 with participation index 580,356, media index 1,310,035, communication index 1,249,040, and community index 1,582,297. Compared to September, their brand reputation index decreased by 31.98%.

The head of the Korean Corporate Reputation Research Institute, Changhwan Gu, stated, “In the October 2023 idol group brand reputation ranking, BTS took the top spot. When comparing it to the idol group brand big data of September, which was 72,173,076 pieces, there was a 3.78% increase. A detailed analysis shows a 12.34% decrease in brand consumption, a 4.18% increase in brand issues, a 0.44% decrease in brand communication, and a 10.79% increase in brand diffusion.”

He further mentioned, “BTS, which ranked 1st in the October 2023 idol group brand reputation, had ‘renew, congratulate, succeed’ as the prominent keywords in link analysis, while ‘Jungkook, Jimin, V’ were highly mentioned in keyword analysis. They achieved a positive sentiment ratio of 91.10%.”
