Jungkook, TXT, and SEVENTEEN have been nominated in various categories for the 2023 MTV EMA, creating anticipation for another historic moment
On October 4th (local time), the 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) announced this year’s list of nominees, including BTS’s Jungkook, TXT, and SEVENTEEN.
Jungkook has been nominated in three categories: ‘Best Song,’ ‘Best K-pop,’ and ‘Biggest Fans.’ This marks a remarkable record for a Korean soloist with the most nominations at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Jungkook was nominated for ‘Best Song’ with his debut solo single released in July, ‘Seven (feat. Latto).’ In this category, Jungkook stands alongside strong contenders like Doja Cat, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift.
Interest is focused on whether Jungkook will continue to win in the ‘Biggest Fans’ category that BTS has been consistently winning for five consecutive years, starting from 2018.
TXT aims for their second consecutive win in two years. They have been nominated in three categories: ‘Best Group,’ ‘Best Push,’ and ‘Best K-pop.’ With a total of three nominations, TXT has been nominated in the most categories among K-pop groups at this year’s awards.
Notably, TXT is competing with global artists in the ‘Best Group’ category, including OneRepublic and Jonas Brothers. Having been nominated for the first time last year at the MTV Europe Music Awards, TXT took home the Best Asia Act award.
SEVENTEEN is also aiming for their second consecutive win in two years. SEVENTEEN has been nominated in two categories: ‘Best K-pop’ and ‘Best Group.’
Last year, SEVENTEEN was nominated in three categories: ‘Best K-pop,’ ‘Best New,’ and ‘Best Push.’ Among these, they won trophies in the ‘Best New’ and ‘Best Push’ categories.
SEVENTEEN also showcased their dominance in K-pop by being nominated in two categories, ‘Best K-pop’ and ‘Group of the Year,’ at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in the US earlier this year.
The 2023 MTV Europe Music Awards will take place on November 5th in Paris, France.
