BTS and NewJeans Among ‘Top 500 Leading the Global Fashion Industry’ in BoF 500

Global Super Group BTS and Girl Group NewJeans Selected as Part of Top 500 in Global Fashion Industry

On the 7th, British fashion specialist media “The Business of Fashion” (BoF) recently announced their annual “BoF 500” list for this year, which includes a total of four Korean entities. Among them, BTS and NewJeans were uniquely chosen in the entertainment industry, including K-pop.

BoF described BTS as “members of the K-pop group, Korean boy band BTS, who have gained mainstream popularity in markets across Europe and the Americas beyond Asia.” They also noted, “Thanks to their strong fandom, self-proclaimed ‘ARMY,’ the band has amassed over 73 million followers on their joint Instagram account.”

Jimin, who had previously secured a spot in the “BoF 500” since 2019, was considered a style icon, and his fellow members were acknowledged for their fashion sense both in Korea and abroad. BoF mentioned, “The members have promoted global brands including Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Valentino, Dior, Tiffany & Co, Celine, Calvin Klein, and Puma, appearing on the covers of numerous international fashion magazines such as Vogue, W, Harper’s Bazaar, GQ, Esquire, and Dazed, either individually or collectively.”

Furthermore, they added, “BTS has been nominated five times at the Grammy Awards, including ‘Album of the Year.’ Currently, the members are engaged in solo projects due to their military service obligations, with plans to resume group activities in 2025.”

BoF also published an article with the title “NewJeans: The Next Generation K-pop Opportunity in the Fashion Industry” on their official website on the 6th (local time), along with an exclusive cover image featuring NewJeans.

BoF emphasized, “The popular group NewJeans has a high potential for fashion brands looking to leverage the strong fandom following Korean pop stars. Some predict that NewJeans will become the next major force in the fashion industry. The five members have already signed notable contracts with famous luxury brands such as Chanel, Gucci, Burberry, Dior, and Louis Vuitton.”

The media continued, “In addition to luxury brand partnerships, NewJeans has collaborated with renowned brands like Apple, Coca-Cola, and McDonald’s, and they have graced the covers of major fashion magazines in Korea, including Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. NewJeans’ rapid growth is exceptional in the K-pop industry.”

NewJeans, in an interview with BoF, expressed their dream of meeting their “Bunnies” (official fan club name) all over the world and sharing music with them. They mentioned, “It’s amazing that Bunnies from different countries sing along to our songs and look happy, even though we speak different languages.”

BoF annually selects 500 individuals who exert influence in the global fashion industry, including designers, executives, models, muses, and creators. This year, alongside BTS and NewJeans, Lotte Shopping CEO Jung Joon Ho and Vogue Korea Editor-in-Chief Shin Kwang Ho were also chosen.

On a global scale, notable figures include Pharrell Williams, the American producer and rapper who became the Men’s Creative Director of French luxury brand Louis Vuitton, Latin pop star Bad Bunny, and American rapper Doja Cat.
