Kang Dong-won (Hangul: 강동원), born on January 18, 1981, in Busan, South Korea, is a celebrated South Korean actor known for his versatile roles and refined on-screen presence. He began his career as a fashion model in the early 2000s before transitioning into acting, quickly establishing himself as one of Korea’s most respected and enigmatic performers.

Raised in a well-educated household his father was an executive at SPP Shipbuilding Kang initially pursued a career in engineering. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Hanyang University, reflecting his strong academic background. However, a chance encounter with a modeling agent during his university years led him into the world of fashion and eventually to acting.

Kang made his acting debut in 2003 and gained popularity through early works such as the drama Something About 1% and films like Temptation of Wolves (2004) and Duelist (2005).
