Actor Kang Dong Won is drawing attention once again while promoting his upcoming film “Wild Sing,” this time because of a humorous viral post allegedly written by one of his former university classmates.
Recently, a post titled “Explanation Regarding Kang Dong Won’s College Classmate Exposé Controversy” surfaced on an online community forum. The post included an old photo of Kang Dong Won in his 20s posing with friends.
What especially caught attention was a highly upvoted comment that read, “I’m Kang Dong Won’s university classmate. During the school festival, Kang Dong Won made snacks at the Mechanical Engineering department’s food stall, and every other department’s booth went out of business. He’s a very bad person.”

Although framed like an “exposé,” the story quickly became viewed more as an amusing compliment than an actual controversy.
Kang Dong Won later addressed the viral post himself during an appearance on YouTube channel “MonoTube.” After reading the comment, he explained that the story was not exactly true.
He shared, “I saw this post too, but it wasn’t really like that. I mostly carried food and alcohol around. Back then, first-year students were supposed to help out, so I worked hard. I don’t remember everything clearly, but I just remember carrying things around and then drinking with seniors afterward.”

His relaxed response amused viewers even further. Regarding the claim that he caused trouble for nearby booths, Kang Dong Won jokingly added, “I never really visited the other departments, so I don’t know. I don’t think I was causing trouble… but who knows?”
The actor also reacted to another online comment from a female fan who wrote, “I’m going to work hard, become rich, and invest 10 billion KRW into your movies.” Kang Dong Won appeared surprised while reading the message aloud.
He responded playfully, “Thank you so much. If you invest, I’ll work hard so you can make a lot of profit from it.” His witty reply once again drew laughter from fans.

Speaking about his future plans, Kang Dong Won shared that he hopes to continue appearing in quality films. He reflected, “While working as an actor, there were times I thought, ‘I’m already in my 40s, maybe everything has passed.’ But looking back, I’ve met many different people and gained a lot of experiences.”
He continued, “I’m grateful for all those experiences, and I want to spend my 40s in the same way. If I want to keep working hard in the future, I think I should start taking better care of my health too.”

Meanwhile, Kang Dong Won’s upcoming comedy film “Wild Sing” tells the story of a once-popular co-ed dance group named Triangle that suddenly disbanded after becoming entangled in an unexpected incident. Twenty years later, the former members reunite for one last reckless attempt at a comeback.
The film co-stars Uhm Tae Goo and Park Ji Hyun and is scheduled to premiere on June 3.
