Min Hee-jin Promotes NewJeans’s Japanese Song Teaser Amid Dispute With HYBE

ADOR’s CEO Min Hee-jin draws attention as she is actively promoting NewJeans despite her intense conflict with HYBE

At midnight on May 1st, NewJeans released a teaser for their new song “Right Now” on the YouTube channel “HYBE LABELS”. Soon after, Min Hee-jin uploaded the same video on her social media account to promote the girl group. Earlier, the female CEO also promoted the music video of NewJeans’s new song “Bubble Gum” in the same way.

“Right Now” MV teaser shows new characters modeled after NewJeans members. This is a collaboration between the group and Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. As the group already received good responses when introducing their collaboration with American animated characters Powerpuff Girls, expectations for their new music video with the characters’ new looks are higher.

NewJeans has been releasing a lot of content before the release of their double single “How Sweet” on May 24th. According to ADOR’s announcement in March, NewJeans will release double singles in Korea and Japan in May and June, respectively along with the group’s Japan debut. After that, the girls will hold a fanmeeting at Tokyo Dome. Their music video for “Bubble Gum” released as part of the comeback schedule has surpassed 17 million views within 4 days.

While NewJeans continues their comeback activities, the conflict between ADOR’s CEO Min Hee-jin and its mother agency HYBE also intensifies. HYBE recently launched an audit and filed a complaint against Min Hee-jin for breach of trust, claiming that she attempted to take over the management rights of ADOR.

However, Min Hee-jin held an emergency press conference to refute all the allegations and pointed out HYBE’s problems. As such, HYBE applied to the court for permission to hold a shareholders’ meeting to remove Min Hee-jin from the board of directors. ADOR’s legal representative also revealed that they would hold a board meeting by May 10th and the shareholders’ meeting will take place at the end of May, arousing keen interest in their discussions at the meetings.
