Amazing growth of an actor who used to install bidets with Ryu Seung Ryong when he was unknown

This actor’s past is surprising. 

Yoo Hae Jin is taking on the role of a king for the first time in his acting career. He will be appearing in the movie “The Owl”, to be released on November 23rd. “The Owl” is a thriller about a blind acupuncturist who can only see at night. He witnesses the crown prince’s death and fights to uncover the truth.

Yoo Hae Jin plays the King, who goes mad after the death of the crown prince. The blind acupuncturist who witnesses the prince’s death is played by Ryu Jun Yeol.

Recently, Yoo Hae Jin did an interview related to “The Owl” where he said, “When I first received the offer, I thought, ‘Why me?’ When I asked the director, he said that he was looking forward to seeing my portrayal of a king. Rather than being particularly greedy for the character, I participated with a sense of challenge.”

Yoo Hae Jin’s acting career began with plays. He joined a theater in his second year of high school, and from then on, he worked various part-time jobs to cover his insufficient living expenses until he became successful.

In particular, as a member of the same theater troupe as Ryu Seung Ryong, Yoo Hae Jin is famous for his anecdotes of hardships such as making sets, installing bidets, and manual labor at construction sites.

On tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block” aired on November 16th, Yoo Hae Jin revealed an episode of a part-time job he did in the past. In response to Yoo Jae Suk’s question, “You did a lot of part-time work when you were in the theater,” Yoo Hae Jin said, “I was hungry and went to the bakery. I was about to buy bread and pay the bill, but a man in a coat tapped me and asked if I was thinking of working part-time.”

Then, when Yoo Hae Jin asked what part-time job it was, the man replied, “You are assembling a bidet at a bidet factory. Do you have any plans to do it?”

Yoo Hae Jin said, “At that time, the pay was fine. So I had an idea, and I asked, ‘Can I bring a friend?’ and asked Ryu Seung Ryong to go with me.”

Yoo Hae Jin dreamed of becoming an actor since middle school. He made his debut in the movie “Black Jack” in 1997 and made an impression on the public by taking on various roles, regardless of the main or supporting role, even during the long period of time when he was unknown.

Now, he has firmly established himself as a leading actor in films such as “Luck-Key”, “Confidential Assignment” and “Taxi Driver”. However, he once faced opposition from his parents and friends when he decided to walk the path of an actor.

Yoo Hae Jin recalled that the opposition around him was severe. He said, “My parents were especially against it. They said I had an objectionable face for an actor. At the time, flower boys were the trend. Even my friends teased me a lot.”

He continued, “I kept telling my parents that ‘I will become an actor’. Eventually, my father told me, ‘If you’re going to do it, do your best,’ and it felt good because I felt recognized.”
