Ahn Sohee: first “nation’s little sister”, “saddest character” in Train to Busan, still youthful after 15 years of experience

Now 30 years old, this beauty is still as gorgeous and youthful as in her debut.

With its release in 2016, “Train to Busan” managed to become a global phenomenon, basically kick-starting the “zombie wave” on the Korean screen. Instead of being filled with gruesome zombie scenes, however, “Train to Busan” includes meaningful humane stories with well-developed characters, including the young student Jin Hee.

In “Train to Busan”, the brave student Jin Hee, played by actress Ahn Sohee, was one of the few characters that dared to stand up against the unreasonable and cold-hearted crowd. Unfortunately, she did not survive along with her lover Yong Guk (Choi Woo Sik), after being pushed towards the hordes of zombies by the villain Yong Suk. Seeing his lover turned into an undead creature, Yong Guk opted to stay and let her turn him into a zombie as well.

While “Train to Busan” indeed added to Sohee’s popularity, the actress was actually already well-known as a Kpop idol, particularly as the youngest member of girl group Wonder Girls. At the time, Sohee was considered Korea’s first “nation’s little sister” and Kpop’s “legendary maknae” due to her adorable and youthful appearance, as well as the cutest chubby cheeks. Sohee’s popularity is also a great contribution to the legacy of Wonder Girls

However, after ending her contract with JYP Entertainment in 2013, Sohee did not manage to establish a stable acting career. Even after the hype of “Train to Busan”, she was unable to maintain her fame, and her later works in “A Single Rider” and “Real” could attain the anticipated success.

Contrary to her idol career, Sohee’s acting career is mostly unremarkable

It was not until 6 years later that Sohee got a great opportunity to participate in Son Ye Jin’s “Thirty-Nine”. Although she only played a supporting role, the beauty of the former Wonder Girls member continued to become a hot topic of discussion. After 15 years, Sohee is still fresh. There seems to be no change in her beauty.

This is probably one of Kpop’s rare cases, especially when she has turned 30. Hopefully, after “Thirty-Nine”, Sohee will have more popular projects, helping her back to the top soon.
