Agency explains controversy over interpreter Ahn Hyun Mo’s inappropriate remarks towards BTS, “It was a misunderstanding”

Singer Rhymer’s wife/interpreter Ahn Hyun Mo explained the allegation that she criticized BTS.

The controversy over Ahn Hyun Mo’s inappropriate remarks towards BTS circulated in the entertainment industry on April 27th. Netizen A claimed that they heard Ahn Hyun Mo made negative comments about BTS during their conversation at the American Music Awards.

Later, the controversy intensified as the content of A and Ahn Hyun Mo’s conversation was publicized.

According to the disclosure, A sent a message to Ahn Hyun Mo on SNS, saying “I think you should refrain from saying what you said about BTS in the broadcasting room yesterday in other places”.

Ahn Hyun Mo then replied, “Where else would I say that? Please pretend you didn’t hear it, writer A”.

Since Ahn Hyun Mo is known as a big fan of BTS, her remarks quickly spread on SNS sites and online communities.

On the same day, Ahn Hyun Mo’s agency Brand New Music released a statement, explaining that it was a misunderstanding.

The agency representative said, “At that time, people were wondering whether BTS would go to the military or not. Ahn Hyun Mo commented, ‘I told you BTS would enlist’. However, A misinterpreted her words, leading to such a misunderstanding.” 

Brand New Music also said that they were trying to contact A.

Meanwhile, Ahn Hyun Mo joined the live broadcast of the 2021 American Music Awards featuring BTS as an interpreter.
