Chae So Young was a victim of real estate frauds by her best friend.
Actress Chae So Young made a guest appearance in the latest episode of KBS2’s program “The Money School”, which aired on August 21st.
She revealed her story, saying, “I gained 10kg after being swindled by my best friend of eight years. I was so stressed about what happened that I underwent surgery and am still on medication.”
Chae So Young confessed, “It was a typical planned real estate scam. I was the victim of three land frauds, which I invested with my mother. Because of the incident, my mother suffered from panic disorder and is being treated.”
Chae So Young said, “I was a little skeptical at first, but when I looked it up, various good things came out. I paid the balance with the deposit and the installment savings that were due.”
She continued, “I learned that it was a scam only after paying the balance of the last land I invested in. I made three investments and was scammed. The amount of damage on the investment was hundreds of millions of won.”
The areas where Chae So Young was scammed were in Dangjin-si, Chungcheongnam-do, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do, and Yongin-si.
Chae So Young later filed a civil and criminal complaint, but the outcome was disappointing. She said, “The criminal prosecution was judged not to be a fraud and the indictment was dismissed. Civil affairs went all the way to the Supreme Court, and eventually only half of my investment was returned.”
