A K-netizen sparks controversy by saying Cha Eunwoo and Jang Wonyoung are 2 top visuals who lack charisma

There are many different factors that decide the success of idols in the Kpop industry with fierce competition. Many idols, although very talented, cannot gain much attention only because their appearance does not suit the public’s taste. On the other hand, there are also idols with outstanding visuals but often draws criticism or gets involved in controversy over their lacking skills. 

On Korea’s famous online community Nate Pann, a recent post regarding this matter caused netizens to enter a heated controversy. The post titled “Top 2 “flowers without scent” among idols” has attracted more than 100,000 views and about 1,000 reactions within less than a day. The phrase “flower without scent”, originally “향기 없는 꽃” in Korean, refers to people with pretty faces but lack charm, having no particular appeal to others.

Both Cha Eunwoo and Jang Wonyoung are among the most popular idols of their generation thanks to eye-catching visuals. But when it comes to skills, these two idols have faced divided opinions. However, even if the talents of Cha Eunwoo and Jang Wonyoung have not really convinced every netizen, the fact that they are considered “lack of charm” has caused fans to be upset and voice their disagreement.  

Notably, compared to Cha Eunwoo, Jang Wonyoung is currently receiving a lot of supportive comments from netizens. Many people have pointed out that since appearing on “Produce 48″ until now, Jang Wonyoung has always been famous for her charisma when standing on stage – which has helped her win the hearts of many viewers and take the 1st place in the show.  That’s why it’s unreasonable to think that Wonyoung only has looks but no charm, especially when she is considered the “It Girl” of the 4th generation with her reputation increasing after debuted with IVE.
