A former girl group member returns to Japan and exposes “Korean entertainment industry”…”Life like a prison”

Former GWSN member Miya told Japan’s Asahi Shimbun about the difficulties she experienced while working in Korea.

According to Asahi Shimbun on May 22nd, Miya recalled her trainee days and confessed, “I talked to another member of GWSN on the phone recently, and we started joking like ‘We were in prison’.

She continued, “We started practicing right after we came home from school every day. It’d be completely dark outside by the time we finished practicing.”

Miya then said, “Every time I went to practice, I weighed myself in front of my manager. After that, I had to report on my diet. I felt like I was going crazy.

Miya revealed that her company was particularly strict, that she had no free time and that her cell phone was confiscated. It was to the point that she could only talk to her family through the manager.

She also confessed that she became an illegal immigrant in Korea due to her agency’s mistake. She mentioned, “It’s frustrating, but I don’t want to blame them too much because it’s business-related.

Miya is Japanese and worked as a member of Korean girl group GWSN. The seven members filed a lawsuit against the agency The Wave Music to terminate the exclusive contract, and all won the first trial.

Miya found a new agency in Japan and is preparing for new activities.
