On June 8, his agency, Gold Medalist, confirmed to local media that Kim Soo-hyun is scheduled to film a commercial in the Philippines on July 14, officially signaling the beginning of his comeback.
Kim Soo-hyun had suspended activities since last year after YouTuber Kim Se-ui raised allegations regarding the actor’s rumored relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron. Production on his upcoming Knock-Off project was halted, and its release was indefinitely postponed. In addition, several advertisers—including companies such as FromBIO, Cuckoo Electronics, Trendmaker, Classys, Eider, and Mido—reportedly filed damage compensation lawsuits totaling around 10 billion KRW.
However, the situation recently shifted after Kim Se-ui was reportedly detained and referred to prosecutors on May 26 over allegations including spreading false information. On June 5, Gold Medalist released an official statement saying, “According to the police investigation results, violations including defamation through false information under the Information and Communications Network Act, stalking-related offenses, violations of the Special Act on Sexual Violence Crimes, attempted coercion, and threats were recognized.”

The agency continued, expressing gratitude to those who supported Kim Soo-hyun during the controversy: “We sincerely thank everyone who continued to speak up on behalf of Kim Soo-hyun while waiting for the legal process to unfold, despite not being directly involved in the case.”
It also thanked investigative and judicial authorities, stating: “We are deeply grateful to the investigative agencies that quietly fulfilled their responsibilities based solely on evidence and facts, as well as the judicial authorities for making fair and strict decisions regarding the suspect.”
As Kim Soo-hyun prepares to resume activities through overseas commercial filming, industry attention is now focused on what direction his career will take moving forward.
