Hong Eunchae

Biography

Hong Eunchae is a South Korean singer and dancer. She is a member of the South Korean girl group LE SSERAFIM, formed by Source Music under HYBE Corporation. Known as the youngest member (maknae) of the group, Eunchae has gained recognition for her performance skills, bright stage presence, and rapid growth as a vocalist and dancer shortly after debut.

Early Life and Education

Hong Eunchae was born on November 10, 2006, in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. She spent her childhood in Bucheon, where she developed an early interest in performing arts. From a young age, Eunchae displayed a passion for singing and dance, attending various lessons and performing opportunities prior to her formal training.

Eunchae attended school in Bucheon and later transferred to the Applied Music Department at Hanlim Multi Art School, a specialized performing arts high school known for producing many K-pop idols. She graduated in 2025, balancing her academic schedule with her idol training and debut activities.

Career

Pre-Debut

Prior to her official debut, Eunchae trained under Source Music, where she focused on dance, vocals, and stage performance. Her youthful energy and adaptability helped her quickly stand out among trainees. Although detailed records of her trainee period are limited, she was eventually selected as one of the final members for what would become LE SSERAFIM.

Debut with LE SSERAFIM (2022–Present)

On May 2, 2022, Hong Eunchae debuted as the youngest member of LE SSERAFIM, alongside Sakura, Kim Chaewon, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha, and other members. The group’s debut extended play, Fearless, marked a strong entrance into the K-pop industry with confident performance concepts and bold promotional activities. Since debut, Eunchae has contributed as a lead vocalist and lead dancer, showcasing remarkable stage presence and rapid performance growth.

As the maknae of LE SSERAFIM, Eunchae has been highlighted for her cheerful energy, distinctive expression, and reliable performance skills despite her young age. Her growth trajectory continues to attract attention from fans and the K-pop community.

Controversy

In March 2024, member Eunchae came under scrutiny due to her past remarks. In particular, she first used Korean grammar wrongly despite being born and raised in Korea,  prompting questions about her academic level.

Additionally, Eunchae was accused of showing a sarcastic attitude when discussing fans’ experiences at school, and faced allegations of having failed the entrance exam to Hanlim Arts School twice.

In September, Eunchae also came under fire for “ruining” the personal items of staff members with stickers to promote LE SSERAFIM’s title track “Crazy”. However, the staff member in question later directly defended the female idol, even showing support for Eunchae.
