On the July 31st episode of the YouTube show “Sana’s Fridge Interview” on the 117 channel, titled “100 Ways to Tease Eunchae,” LE SSERAFIM’s Hong Eunchae revealed that her first-ever audition was for JYP Entertainment, inspired by TWICE. She also shared candid memories from her pre-debut struggles while chatting with guest host TWICE’s Sana.
Eunchae explained, “In school, everyone knew who I was because I was so outgoing. If there was a dance performance, I always participated. But after becoming a trainee, I became more shy. The unnie line really helped me adjust.”
She fondly recounted her initial awkwardness at the trainee dorms, including one moment where she tried to gift juice to the older members but ended up drinking it herself out of nervousness. “My mom told me to buy something for the unnies, so I bought Capri-Sun and even wrote a note. But I was too shy to give it to them, so I drank it myself,” she laughed.

The highlight of the interview was when Eunchae revealed her first audition was at JYP Entertainment, the agency behind TWICE—her original inspiration. “I wanted to go to JYP because of TWICE. I auditioned through my dance academy and made it to the second round with one other girl. But she was so tall and confident—I lost my nerve and ended up failing,” she shared.
Despite the rejection, Eunchae continued pursuing her dream. She later auditioned for Pledis Entertainment and Source Music, eventually signing with the latter. “I felt most comfortable at the Source Music audition. The casting manager who had initially seen me moved to Source and came back to my academy to scout me. She became a turning point in my life.”

Eunchae debuted as the youngest member of LE SSERAFIM under Source Music, a HYBE subsidiary, and has since grown into a beloved idol recognized for her bright energy and sharp dance skills.
Her story is not just about resilience but also a touching reminder that rejection can lead to redirection, especially in the competitive world of K-pop.
