BABYMONSTER Voted “Least Talented” K-Pop Girl Group in Japanese Magazine Poll + Fans React

A recent poll conducted by the Japanese magazine FLASH has left K-Pop fans in disbelief, as it named BABYMONSTER the "least talented" girl group in the industry

The survey, which polled 500 individuals, asked respondents to identify the K-Pop girl groups they believed were the least talented. BABYMONSTER received the highest number of votes—166 in total—earning them the controversial title according to the Japanese respondents.

The magazine published some of the comments from those who participated in the poll:

– They all seem the same, lacking individuality, and they don’t stand out from the crowd. (Female, 50s, part-time worker)

– Their dance performances aren’t well-synchronized. (Female, 30s, civil servant)

– Compared to other groups, they don’t have the same level of appeal. (Teenage girl, student)

aespa came in second with 79 votes, criticized for lacking uniqueness. LE SSERAFIM ranked third, receiving 60 votes, mainly for “excessive lip-syncing”.

Given the popularity of these groups both in Korea and internationally, many K-Pop fans were puzzled by the poll results.

Some fans speculated that the poll might be influenced by the “strong” concepts these groups often adopt, which may not align with the preferences of the Japanese audience.

Comments from fans included:

– I think it’s more about the concepts than live singing. Some people just don’t like their styles.

– BABYMONSTER, aespa and LE SSERAFIM? Maybe it’s because they have different music styles that don’t resonate as much in Japan.

– What? BABYMONSTER and aespa are incredibly talented!

– This has to be a joke.

The poll results have sparked a lot of discussion among fans, who continue to express their surprise and confusion. What do you think about these rankings?
