IU Shows Off Her Special Relationship With Jo Jung-suk, “How Could I Ever Repay You!”

On July 17th, IU uploaded on her YouTube channel the new “IU’s Palette” episode featuring the guest appearance of actor Jo Jung-suk.

IU introduced Jo Jung-suk, saying “I’ve been quite busy this year but I’m trying to keep the promise I made to myself, to give back and express my gratitude to the people I appreciate”.

Greeting Jo Jung-suk, IU then said, “We first met in 2013 while working on ‘The Best Yi Sunshin’. So, I’ve known you for 12 years now. It’s been a long time, but do you remember your first impression of IU?”. In response, Jo Jung-suk said, “There were strong reactions when I mentioned I’m acting with you in the drama. Some even cursed at me!”, adding “Cho Seung-woo sent me a text message, saying ‘Are you really acting with IU, of all people?’”.

Recalling when they worked together, Jo Jung-suk said, “When we acted together, at times we had a break or some time in between, we often had lunch together. And then when you were eating… you always enjoyed a hearty meal!”. IU added, “My appetite was at its best. I ate five meals a day”.

IU continued, “Back then, you were so nice to me. It was my first leading role. It was the first time for both of us to act in leading roles. We were both very motivated but unlike any other dramas, we shot at least 60 scenes a day. Even over 100 scenes. Whenever I was in trouble dealing with all the workload and I didn’t know what to do, I asked for your advice. I must have bothered you so much”. Jo Jung-suk replied, “It was my first leading role and on top of that, I was acting with IU! Whenever I went to work. I was so grateful for that”.

IU shared, “Recently, because old habits die hard. I was filming the movie ‘Dream’ and I’ve never acted in a comedy film before. I was under huge pressure and found many scenes challenging so I asked him for advice”, adding, “And I sent the footage of the scene. The next day in the early morning, he sent me back, ‘IU, these are different versions’, ‘this sounds more natural’, ‘this is to focus on lines’, etc. He sent me all those. I was so touched. How could I ever repay you!”.

It is known that Jo Jung-suk even acted using a female voice and sent demonstration videos to IU. IU once again expressed her gratitude toward Jo Jung-suk, saying “How can I return the favor? How could I ever reward you, for all the help you’ve given me and the time you spent for me? You’re helping me right here today”, adding, “I always return the favors ‘IU, do this for me!’ You can text me like that.”
