NewJeans exceeds 2 billion accumulated streams on Spotify within only 1 year after debut

The syndrome girl group NewJeans has surpassed 2 billion streams on the world’s largest music platform Spotify.

According to Spotify on August 1st, the total number of streams earned by NewJeans songs was 2,007,899,641 as of July 30th. The group did that within only a year of their debut.

On March 8th, NewJeans achieved a total of 1 billion Spotify streams, breaking the record of the fastest K-pop artist to make it (219 days) and also being listed in the Guinness World Records in the UK. Less than five months later, they continued to reach the 2 billion milestone. 

NewJeans’ recent mini album “Get Up” has been receiving huge love both domestically and internationally. This helped accelerate their streams to 2 billion. The six songs included in “Get Up” altogether exceeded 200 million streams on Spotify at the end of last month. “Super Shy”, one of the triple title tracks, is approaching 90 million streams, signaling the addition of a new song to NewJeans’ 1-million-stream records.

Out of a total of 15 songs released by NewJeans so far, 6 have entered the million-stream club on Spotify. ‘OMG” and “Ditto” have all surpassed 400 million streams. “Hype Boy” currently has over 300 million, “Attention” with over 200 million, while “Cookie” and “Hurt” have accumulated 100 million streams each.

NewJeans songs are also performing well on the Spotify charts. ‘Super Shy” has placed within Top 3 on the U.S. ‘Weekly Top Song’ chart for three consecutive weeks. According to the latest chart release, it currently ranks No.12. In addition, all the songs from their second mini album have appeared on the chart, with “Cool With You” at No.33, “New Jeans” at No.41, “ETA” at No.42, “ASAP” at No.82, and “Get Up” at No.83.

Meanwhile, NewJeans will appear on the stage of the US music festival ‘Lollapalooza Chicago’ on August 3rd. They are the first K-pop girl group to perform at this event.
