4 K-drama actresses stunning with no makeup in 2022, from Suzy, Kim Ji Won, to a special name

In order to best portray their characters, these K-drama actresses willingly appear on the screen with no makeup. 

The Korean showbiz is rather obsessed with beauty standards, making it extremely difficult for female celebrities to wear their bare face on the screen. However, to deliver their roles in a convincing manner, many K-drama actresses were willing to shed their cosmetics and show impressive natural beauty in their works. 

Seo Hyun Jin

Nicknamed “the statue of beauty” in Korea, Seo Hyun Jin has no qualms about taking her bare face on air. Earlier this year, in order to assume the role of an Alzheimer patient in “Cassiopeia”, Seo Hyun Jin decided to use absolutely no makeup. According to the actress, it would simply look unnatural for an Alzheimer patient to doll up, and while no cosmetics were used, Seo Hyun Jin’s skin still looked as if it was glowing. 

Suzy

With delicate and innocent visuals, Suzy earned the nickname “the nation’s first love”, and has never failed to live up to such a title. Makeup or not, it is just impossible to not feel drawn to the idol-actress, and so Suzy loves to keep things natural on the screen. This year, she decided to forgo the fancy face styling in the first half of web-series “Anna”, where she played a poor housekeeper that later lied to get out of her miserable life. 

Kim Ji Won

Taking on the female lead role of Mi Jeong in My Liberation Notes, Kim Ji Won surprised the audience by shedding her usual luxurious image to play a melancholy, introverted girl. Having a difficult life situation and being a girl who is afraid to communicate with people, Kim Ji Won equips her character with a simple appearance.  Especially in the scenes where the character goes to work in the fields, she also kept her bare face on screen.  Even without any makeup, Kim Ji Won’s face is still quite fresh, her skin is almost flawless. 

Lee Joo Bin

In 2022, Lee Joo Bin suddenly became the focus of attention when appearing in Money Heist Korea.  Many people were surprised after the actress confessed that she decided not to wear makeup when filming.  Lee Joo Bin explained that she was asked to wear no makeup so she only wore light makeup in the first scene.  However, due to sweating during filming, she finally decided to go bare-faced.
