Kim Tae Ri Kim Eun Hee Revenant

“Revenant” is a Korean-style occult mystery thriller drama about a woman possessed by a devil and a man who can see the devil digging into mysterious deaths. Although the genre and materials are not easy for viewers to access, Kim Eun Hee still proved her writing skills by creating an attractive story that captivates viewers.

“Revenant” built up a dense and meticulous narrative about mysterious evil spirits, leading viewers into following the investigation of Goo San Young (Kim Tae Ri) and Yeom Hae Sang (Oh Jung Se).

In particular, the subject of folklore, which best represents Korean culture, provided a fresh experience to the small screen audience. This field of study explores what our ancestors outside the palace walls experienced, the games they enjoyed, their fears as well as what they believed in, adding to the joy of watching with the discovery of new stories.

This is also the reason why the story of folklore professor Hae Sang, who discovered unseen suicides mentioned in the literature of the Joseon Dynasty and fiercely protected the boundaries, became more interesting. Many people are also looking forward to seeing how the clues left by Goo Sang Mo (Jin Sun Kyu), who studied fork beliefs and chased evil spirits, will be solved in the latter episodes.

“I got the inspiration from the folk stories I heard in my hometown when I was young”, writer Kim Eun Hee shared. Previously caused a global sensation with Netflix’s series “Kingdom”, the writer is expected to create another hit with the Korean-style occult genre this time.

Crimes that taint our society with evil are also portrayed in the setting of the devil, which “grows according to human desires”. Even in the process of San Young, who didn’t believe in ghosts, starting to see ghosts, the drama incorporates horrifying events, such as child abuse and domestic violence.

In this regard, the production team explained, “In the next developments, various social evils will continue to be mentioned in the process of San Young tracking the mystery of the devil together with Hae Sang”. Viewers are already curious about what kind of impression Kim Eun Hee, who has consistently conveyed messages about “events and people to remember”, will leave in the hearts of viewers this time.

“Revenant”, which has gained explosive reactions after releasing only two episodes, airs every Friday and Saturday at 10 p.m. on SBS.
