3 reasons why “Now, We Are Breaking Up” starring Song Hye Kyo is a must-watch drama

As the end of the year is approaching, it’s probably the most perfect time for an emotional K-drama of the romance genre. Therefore, “Now, We Are Breaking Up”, an upcoming melodrama, is expected to draw much attention by the end of this year. Let’s take a look at 3 key reasons why the drama is worth anticipating. 

1. A reverse romance 

“Now, We Are Breaking Up” is a new upcoming romantic drama with a star-studded cast including Song Hye Kyo, Jang Ki Yong, Sehun (EXO), Yura (Girl’s Day). The drama will highlight a variety of flavors of love and breakups.

Song Hye Kyo plays Ha Young Eun, a leader of the design team at a fashion company. She is also a trendy, intelligent and realistic woman. Jang Ki Yong plays Yoon Jae Guk, a rich and famous freelance photographer who is both handsome and smart.

Recently, the official still cuts of the drama have been released. The pictures capture the romantic moments between Ha Young Eun and Yoon Jae Guk, and show their process of falling in love and breaking up in reverse order. Different from other melodramas, the writer of “Now, We Are Breaking Up” focuses on developing a love story reversed from the common order with the desire to emphasize the happiness from loving moments, the beauty of how a relationship progresses, not just how it ends.

2. Gathering A-list stars

When the cast of Now, We Are Breaking Up was announced, netizens were surprised because it was all A-list actors. The female lead Song Hye Kyo with a lot of acting experience makes the audience put more expectations on this drama.

Actor and model, Jang Ki Yong takes on the male lead alongside Song Hye Kyo.  As an actor with his own style, Jang Ki Yong has attracted much attention for his roles in Go Back Couple and My Mister, Come And Hug Me.

In the last two years, Jang Ki Yong has become one of the rising names when appearing in a series of popular dramas such as Search: WWW, Born Again and more recently, My Roommate Is A Gumiho.  This new role in Now, We Are Breaking Up could be a breakthrough in the actor’s career.

In addition, Now, We Are Breaking Up also stars Choi Hee Seo in Mistress and Stranger 2 as Hwang Chi Sook – Ha Young Eun’s high school friend.  Kim Joo Heon from It’s Okay to Not Be Okay and Start-Up will take on the role of Seok Do Hoon, the CEO of a PR agency.

3. Sehun and Yura

The fact that Kpop idols enter the film industry is probably not too strange.  And the appearance of Sehun and Yura in Now, We are Breaking Up got netizens excited.  This will be the drama marking the first TV project that the EXO‘s maknae participates in.

In the drama, Sehun plays the role of Hwang Chi Hyung, a new employee at the main fashion company The One. However, he is not only an ordinary employee but also the youngest son of the owner of The One. Hwang Chi Hyung, whom Sehun is portraying, is a character who has an unstoppable and cute charm. According to the production crew for ‘Now, We Are Breaking Up‘, Sehun, with his outstanding visuals and charms, perfectly portrayed the character of Hwang Chi Hyung.

Girl’s Day‘s Yura will play Hye Rin, a celebrity who has garnered a massive number of followers on social media thanks to her natural beauty and incredible hard work.

Hye Rin exudes a charismatic and luxurious aura as a person of style, influence, and who is always at the forefront of the latest fashion trends. Netizens also believe that Yura will be a perfect fit for the role of Hye Rin.

Now, We Are Breaking Up is a collaboration between scriptwriter Kim Jae In of JTBC drama “Misty” and director Lee Gil Bok of SBS’s Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim 2.  The drama will air every Friday – Saturday night from November 12, after One The Woman ends.
