Girls’ Generation’s YoonA has once again proven her dedication to acting, shocking fans and industry insiders with a daring performance in her latest film Pretty Crazy.

In one of the movie’s most intense moments, YoonA, playing the mysterious Seon-ji, jumped into the Han River at midnight without using a stunt double. According to director Lee Sang-geun, the risky scene was completed in just one take, leaving the entire crew holding their breath.

Lee Sang-geun revealed in an interview with News1:

“Even I couldn’t do it if someone asked me to. The Han River at night is unpredictable, and it was dangerous. But Yoona insisted on doing it herself. She had worries too, but she was determined. When she succeeded in one take, I just prayed the camera captured it all. In desperate moments, people can do the impossible — YoonA proved that.”

The director’s words reflect just how committed YoonA was to the role. After completing the jump, she had to immediately return to filming, drying her hair and changing outfits before moving to the next scene.

Once the production team uploaded the behind-the-scenes clip on YouTube, fans were left stunned:

  • My heart dropped watching this. She’s so brave!
  • Yoona is no longer just an idol. She’s a real actress now.
  • The risk was huge, but she nailed it in one shot.

Pretty Crazy marks YoonA’s reunion with director Lee Sang-geun, who previously worked with her on the box-office hit Exit (2019).

In Pretty Crazy, YoonA plays Seon-ji, a seemingly sweet and kind woman by day who transforms into a bizarre and terrifying figure by night. The plot follows Gil-goo, an unemployed young man who falls for Seon-ji, only to discover her dark alter ego. As he becomes entangled in her dangerous secret, comedy and horror intertwine in unexpected ways.

Released on August 13, the film has received mixed reviews. Some viewers found the storyline unusual and difficult to digest, while critics praised its originality. However, YoonA’s performance has been unanimously praised, with many noting that she has fully shed her “idol actress” label to emerge as a powerful lead capable of carrying diverse roles.
